Time Will Tell: Storytelling Traditions in Western New York

The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University’s Folk Arts Program and Meet Me at the CAM Series have teamed up to present a special fall program, “Time Will Tell: Story Telling Traditions in Western New York” on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. “Time will Tell” will take place in the morning, with a program featuring speakers from the local arts community, Light refreshments will be served.

Join us to learn about a few of the rich storytelling traditions in Western New York. Learn about what it means to be a storyteller, how storytelling can be used to teach lessons, and how it can be and catalyst for spiritual, community, and personal healing. Our featured speakers are Karima Amin of the African American tradition, Lorna Czarnota, focusing on Celtic American tales, and Jay Clause from the Tuscarora tradition. The morning will include a mix of stories and learning about the traditions themselves.

“Time Will Tell: Storytelling Traditions in Western New York” is made possible through the Folk Arts Program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, the Ostapenko Center for Race and Cultural Equity at Niagara University, and Elderwood at Wheatfield Community.
